Melitta Cone Coffee Filters, Natural Brown, No. 2, 100 Count (Pack of 6)
Amazon Price: $21.88
Customer Review: The Filter Standard
Melitta invented this style of filter, so they're the standard to be judged by. I'm glad I bought this particular quantity (600 filters) because it will be a long time before they run out. I like some of the competitions filter idea of having a tab at one side so they're easier to open, but it's still not much of a problem. I love my coffee and know that these filters will work better than any other for delivering the best coffee I can buy and grind. It can't make cheap coffee better, but it will make the best coffee you can get out of what you put in. Read some of the online sites about how to brew the best cup, because it's worth your time.
Customer Review: The Melitta CONE filter: unsurpassed.
With the possible exception of the French press, nothing beats the Melitta cone shaped filter. The shape is important. Compared to flat-bottomed filters, the taste of the resulting coffee is always better.

Customer Review: good product
i like the product alot, works best when coffee is not so finely ground.
Customer Review: One cup at a time
This product works well to produce one cup of fresh brewed coffee at a time. The amount of coffee and watter can be varied to accomodate large or small cups, weak or strong brews. The omly gripe is that the lid's edges are not quite long enough to support the brewing basket when finished so it does not sit up straight but all in all a good product for what it was intended.

Bodum Coffee Solo Personal 10-Ounce Drip Brewer Set with Cup and Filter
List Price: $22.00
Amazon Price: $15.99
Customer Review: No french press grit
I was looking for an alternative to a French press because I really dislike the grit it produces in the bottom of your mug. Tried the Bodum Solo and I'm very pleased. The only down-side is the coffee isn't as strong as that made in a French press...but the good news is: no grit, very easy to use and clean, produces a good-tasting one cup (smallish mug) of coffee. A few tips: use coarsely ground coffee (like you would with a FP); after pouring in the water, give the water filter and the coffee filter a firm press which really slows down the drip, otherwise the coffee will be much too weak.
Customer Review: yummy in my tummy

Medelco #4 Cone Permanent Coffee Filter
List Price: $7.99
Amazon Price: $7.99
Customer Review: Not a good substitute for the Braun UGSF4
I bought the Medelco #4 cone permanent coffee filter as a substitute for a Braun UGSF4 filter. Unfortunately, it's not a really good substitute. Although the Medelco coffee filter will fit in a Braun coffee maker, it's not as tall and tapered as the Braun UGSF4. As a result, it doesn't concentrate the coffee as much when it is moving through the filter so you have to substantially increase the amount of ground coffee that you are using for the same strength of coffee. So while the Medelco is initially cheaper than the corresponding Braun filter, one would end up spending much more money in the long run because you would use more ground coffee. My advice is to search the net (including e-bay) to find a genuine Braun gold filter...even though it will likely be more expensive than the Medelco filter, you'll be much happier in the long run.
Customer Review: Medelco #4 Cone Permanent Coffee Filter
I purchased this because, after about 8 months or so, I started noticing tiny holes/tears forming in the bottom of the permanent filter that came from the factory with my Braun coffee maker. It seemed to allow some of the smaller coffee grounds to come through during brewing. This product partially solved the problem. However, a more general issue with these permanent filters is that, even when they are intact, they do not filter as many particulates from the coffee as a paper filter. If you grind your own beans as I do, and your grind is on the finer side, a certain amount of 'residue' is going to come through these filters that would be stopped by a paper filter. Just keep that in mind, and don't drink those last few drops!
Rockline 43-301 Coffee Filter Disc
Price: $2.21
Customer Review: A filter that fits in size and price
I love coffee made in a percolator, and it's essential to use a filter to get the taste right. Nowadays, grocery and department stores rarely carry disk filters for percolators, maybe because people favor the drip type of coffee makers. I was very glad to find an online source for the Rockline 43-301 filter disk that I used to get, saving me the trouble of buying drip filters from which I would cut out the center part. The Rockline disk filters are very reasonably priced (I think they charge less than stores used to charge for them!), and they don't gouge you on shipping.
